Network Engineer - Technical Lead Location: London Start Date: January Rate: £50,000 - £60,000 + Benefits NST Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced Network Engineer for a fantastic IT Managed Service Provider. You will be expected to act as the senior 3rd Line technical escalation point to the NOC engineers and provide practical hands-on support within the Customer Service Centre, to facilitate the prompt resolution of faults. You will also advise the Customer Services Manager on complex technical issues, to assist with decision making, reporting, and contributing to ITIL problem management. This will be an office based role, working for a fantastic organisation with great career prospects in front of you. They also offer an on call annual bonus. Main Duties: Expertise in 3rd line troubleshooting, acting as the escalation point for NOC engineers. Providing support and direction for NOC staff, ensuring faults are promptly identified and resolved. Routine preventative maintenance on customer and core systems, to ensure agreed levels of network performance and availability Technical advice on planned works on the operational network. Liaising with customers on ongoing complex issues to clearly define steps for resolution Liaise with internal teams and external partners to highlight and resolve operational issues and improve services Provide technical advice and contribute to the production of RFO reports in conjunction with the Customer Services Manager Perform proactive fault management through technical trend and root-cause analysis to identify and prevent potential issues Deliver technical training and coaching where appropriate and create technical documentation for the Customer Service Centre. Undertake project work and tasks within the network operations environment Monitor vendor security advisories and general release notes and make appropriate recommendations Requirements: A minimum of 2 years work experience in a network operations role, ideally in a service provider/Telecoms environment. Certified to a minimum of CCNP or JNCIP level Strong complex problem solving skills, passionate about technology and is versatile with an ability to adapt to new technologies quickly. Confident when dealing with customers and senior members of the business. Able to multitask, and work autonomously, managing own tasks and priorities. Technical Skills Required: - CCNP and/or JNCIP - Good understanding of TCP/IP - Strong working knowledge of OSPF and BGP - Experience working with Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies - Good understanding of MPLS - Firewall experience (ideally Juniper SRX or SSG) - Experience with both Cisco and Juniper equipment - Experience using and managing monitoring systems (Zabbix, Nagios, etc ) - Experience with troubleshooting DSL, Ethernet based Leased lines Desirable but not essential: - Scripting experience (BASH, Python, PHP, etc.) - Experience with configuration management software (preferably Ansible) - Familiarity with Linux - Experience VM hypervisors (VMWare, KVM) If you are interested in this position, or can recommend anyone else, please contact Artche Harrowell at NST Recruitment (see below)
