The Team comprises of five Solution Designers who are responsible for the design of new infrastructure for both project and BAU requirements throughout the Bank, on infrastructure which is maintained and supported by the Infrastructure Operations Teams (Storage, Networks, Platforms and Database Services).The role will involve designing Infrastructure solutions for the Bank alongside using previous experience and industry-wide best practice to help size and shape the Infrastructure Solution Design team for the future.Key responsibilities include, and are not limited to:Develops and/or co-ordinates and oversees the development of all solution design work for the Infrastructure domainActs as Solution Design point of contact for projectsOwns and enforces a consistent approach to Solution Design within the Domain.Works with Analyse and the Infrastructure Domain SMEs to apply standards and reflect business and technology strategy in the development of solution designs and design patterns.Works with OCIO (Planning and Governance) to understand pipeline of requirements for Solution Design, and with other leads within the domain to ensure future skills and capacity to meet the need.Produces and/or assures cross-Domain solution designs, when nominated as the lead for Delivery.Assures quality of solution designs, and works with Project/Delivery Managers to provide estimates and ensure they are delivered in line with budget and schedule assumptions.Provides technical/solution oversight during the development, test and implementation of change, to ensure delivery in line with requirements and design.Participates in Project Boards as required by individual project governanceLiaises with multiple key stakeholders within the Delivery area to ensure infrastructure solutions are designed and built to the relevant Bank standards, applying the necessary hardware and operating system configurations defined by Infrastructure Operations.Managing multiple key stakeholders including Project Managers and their expectations on all aspects of the solution design process.Maintain the technical and operational process documentation for the Solutions Designs Team.Understand the latest technology relevant to the Bank and stay up to date with the future technologies that maybe relevant to the Bank.Essential Skills/Competencies:Technical SkillsIt is essential the job holder has a deep understanding of all elements of Infrastructure as well as the processes and methodologies of solution design in the world of Infrastructure.To assist with the balance of technical skills across the team, it would be advantageous for the job holder to have detailed knowledge in the disciplines of either Storage or Databases, with the following broader skills:Knowledge of Windows/RHEL/ESXi Servers, deployment via VMWare, HP and Cisco UCS server hardwareKnowledge of the technologies deployed within the Bank: Microsoft Windows 2008 & 2012, Microsoft Products (Active Directory, SCCM, SCOM, Orchestrator, SQL 2008 & 2012), Red Hat Enterprise Linux, VMware, Cisco UCS, HP, Windows Clustering/Security, CommVault Simpana, Cisco Networking & EMC SAN (VMAX & VNX)ITIL v3 with experience working within ITIL framework, specifically request fulfilment and change managementQualifications in VMware/Cisco UCS would be advantageousUnderstanding and experience of industry-standard design methodologies in the Infrastructure spaceDelivering ResultsEnsures infrastructure delivered meet requirementsPuts controls in place to ensure that all Servers
